Toolpost Cam Handle Setup

Procedure for setting up to drill the hole for the toolpost handle. It takes a little trig but this is by far the most accurate means of locating a hole on a part which is difficult to edge find. Be sure to locate the center of the part on the 'Y' axis before locating on the 'X' axis. Also, use a 15 degree angle gauge block under the V Block to get it set properly in the vise.

Learning to read imperial is so.easy it required a 7 minute video of an American having to explain it.. yes, totally easy.
Best video
Great video sir. I’m slow ar learning numbers. Is there a pdf file or link I can print this information out. I would love to print and study / practice this at my own pace. Thank you. I just subscribed 👍
Send me your email and I can send you a PDF of the steel rule lessons.
What stand is that cmm on?
i put a protractor against the taper and i get 90 minus 8 so 82 degrees? ? or 8 if you're turning it......
hey i couldn't comment on your CAT 40 tool holder making video you made a mistake in "say ok for kids or something like that but anyway how do you know it's 8.5 degrees? any chance you could send me the drawing cause i can't find anything i am in the process of making a cat 40 holder from acetal thanks

how do you CHAGE the direction of the chain? is this possible? I like to CTR AUTO and then select the lines but unfortunately and as you showed it only goes one way
Why would you use these over telescopic gauges?
How do you set the origin on a square to be dead center of the square
You can set the origin at half of the part if you know the exact size. Touch one side, zero, then move over the required distance then origin again.
Ever hear of cosine error?
👏👍😊
You also needed to convert for the convex diameter of that part, which you didn’t mention.
on the c scale or on the B scale?
@@fredrezfield1629 particularly on the C scale, but really, on all of them. The numbers are there. They can be found using Google, if you don’t have the charts.

Bolt lengths are always measured from under the head to the end of the thread. (with the exception of flat heads).
Good 👍
Thank you I really appreciate you taking the time to teach other's.
Thanks for sharing! really helpfull!!
Thank you so much sir!
thank you. very helpful.
Thanks teacher 🙏, please make a lesson about how to read the graph alignment .. your fan from Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦
Thank you for the good word. I have several lessons on measuring devices, let me know what type of device you use. Hope you are doing well.
@@grantkat4 thanks for the prompt reply teacher and I’m really pleasured. Actually, this is a method of how to align to shafts center s, I have seen so many videos in Indian language but it is not clear to since I cant understand it. If possible please make a lesson in regard that.
thnx man
I was confused, my shop gave me the first one ruler to measure in metric. I didn’t realize until I started measuring that they gave me a inch ruler 🤦🏽♂️. I really wish we could stick to one measurement.
This is so exciting! I've been looking for something just like this to do!!!! Thank you so much for posting. I'm going to try to do this!! God bless you.
I’m glad, it really works. Just don’t specifically name the unreached people by name or Facebook will deny your ad. Lord bless
You will do great, just don't mention the name of the people group because Facebook will block you...they think is a political ad. Good luck and make Jesus' name great!
There are metric values for the anvils and spindles as well. Would one convert the micrometer reading to metric to find a metric PD. (If metric uses one?)
Thank you for this video - very interesting stuff! And special thanks for leaving in the 0.470" versus 0.445" confusion. All micrometers read a little differently regarding whether the additional 0.025" line shows completely, partially shows, or [on cheap micrometers] is almost completely hidden (on a reading like 0.450 for instance). Regardless, showing the mistake and how to logically correct it will help others and shows the humility necessary to be a good teacher. Thanks again!
Whats the screw for on the end?
The metric system is superior
which system took us to the moon ? let me enlighten you , Imperial System.
@@unwrittenmusic Rip Apollo
I've finally seen it: a steel rule divided in 1/10- and 1/100-inch increments. My wish has been granted.
Lol IKR
Loving the vids! 🙃 Keep uploading! Do you know of SMZeus”dot”com??! It’s the best way to grow your channel!
Great help, thanks!
Why don't you just go metric, this lesson is outdated and unnecessary. Metric is the way forward.
Metric works for most things yes, but when going to a Home Depot or Lowes you have to ask for imperial measurements because they are easier to remember
@@sayhallo3769 Problem is then for you its a chicken and egg situation, you will not remember them because you do not use metric. Trust me i was an engineer and grew up with imperial so i know both systems. Metric has so many benefits over imperial, you've probably never seen a large blueprint diagram using yards, feet, inches and everything between the inch. Let me tell you it's horrendous. Again its outdated and behind the times. Sorry.
John Gallantree Im a canadian...
imperial system took us to the moon ! not metric.
@@unwrittenmusic Won wars too.
Where did you get that small machinists book? A link would be great.
I have always measured bolts length from the under side of the hex to the end of the bolt, never overall length. I may have been measuring wrong.
joe miller you’re correct
thanks
can you explain the decimal rule in 50 please
The decimal rule with 50 divisions has tenths of an inch, the numbers equal .1 of an inch. Each of the small graduation marks represent .02 of an inch so if you are 3 graduation marks past the 2, two tenths, then you have .2 + (3 x .02) which equals .26. Thanks for asking.
Brilliant explanation
Good

I know this is a slightly older video, but it's very straight-forward and easy to follow. I'm a QC Tech, learning new calibrations this week. I now appreciate how spoiled I am by tri-mics & bore gages, but at least this video assures me anyone (including me) can learn inside mics. Thanks for the help!
Please help I just got a new job as a calibration tech but my company has nobody to train me they asked me to watch videos and read but I haven't. Found much on calibrating please make calibration videos for dial indicators bore indicators
My company paid for a college class on gauge tooling. See if yours offers anything like that. If not, start looking for a new job, being thrown to the wolfs is a bad sign.
